Add an Odesk Referral Link to Passively Monetize Your Own Website

Adding an oDesk Referral link is an excellent way to passively monetize your website. You simply add your links on your site one time, and if anybody clicks thru these links and transacts with oDesk, you will get a referral fee. Do note though that unless your site has heavy traffic, these links won’t get you massive cash. But it still is passive income and it is highly relevant to your site/ target Clients.

HOW MUCH WILL I GET? | oDesk Referral Fees

• oDesk will pay you $50 for each new business you send that verifies a credit card.

• oDesk will pay you $0.50 for each freelancer you send that applies for a job.

2 STEPS|To add your Odesk Referral Link, you need to 1) Get your own Referral Link via CJ and then 2) Paste the code on your website.For this example we are using GoDaddy’s Website Tonight & HostGator’s Website Builder. The steps are pretty much the same for other website builders.

YOU NEED| an Odesk Profile, a Commission Junction Account & your own website (i.e. GoDaddy Website Tonight)

ODESK CJ| If you don’t have a Commission Junction Account, you may apply here oDESK SIGN-UP, then Click AFFILIATES (page footer). Sign-up is free.

STEP I. Get Your oDesk Links from CJ

1. Login to your Commission Junction (CJ) account.

2. If you haven’t gotten your oDESK Affiliate approval yet, go and apply for oDesk. Goto GET LINKS – Search ODESK – APPLY/VIEW LINKS then apply to the program.

3. Once you’ve been approved, Goto GET LINKS – BY RELATIONSHIP then choose oDesk – VIEW LINKS

4. You should now see the different banners/links available to you. Pick the one that complements the scheme of your website, and the image that is relevant to your website visitors/ clients. Once you’ve chosen, click it to view the LINK DETAIL.

5. At the bottom of the Link Detail, click GET HTML. Then COPY CODE. Don’t be intimidated by the code. You will simply paste this on your website.

STEP 2. Add Referral Link to Your Own Website

1. GODADDY WEBSITE TONIGHT| SITE – DESIGN – INSERT- SCRIPT

2. HOSTGATOR WEBSITE BUILDER | DESIGN – SCRIPT (at the right hand panel, drag the script into your page) – then click PROPERTIES

3. Paste the ODESK REFERRAL LINK (i.e. Step 5 above)into the SCRIPT BOX. You may simply erase whatever is in your box when you first open it.

5. Click PREVIEW or PUBLISH (upper right hand corner) and you should now see your widget. You will now get Referral Fees whenever your website visitors transact with oDesk.
